Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) Program Goals

The MPAS program measure success in meeting program goals through assessing various aspects of the curriculum and evaluating the results against program defined benchmarks.

This program will:

1. Prepare competent and compassionate PAs, ready for clinical practice.

Prepare competent and compassionate PAs, ready for clinical practice.

The success in meeting this goal is measured through graduate performance on NCCPA PANCE exam scores, pass rates and clinical structured student evaluations scores.

  • Graduate Performance on Certification Exams scores will meet or exceed the national average in organ system and task list categories
    • This benchmark was met for graduate cohort 2023
      • Organ System Performance by MPAS 78.79% > 78.29% nationally
      • Task Performance by MPAS 78.63% > 77.88% nationally
    • This benchmark will be measured in 2024 after all graduates complete PANCE and appropriate benchmarking is available after March of each year.
  • Graduates will succeed in taking the NCCPA PANCE exam with a first- time cohort pass rate of 95% or higher.

    • Examples of non-lecturing learning: SIM, POCUS, SMMART, H&P, Anatomy Lab, Improv, Round Robins, Jigsaw, Collab Presentations, EBM, CCQI
    • This benchmark was met in 2024
      • 38% of the curriculum was delivered in non-lecture format
  • More than 80% of graduating students reflect positively regarding learning in an innovative and integrative curriculum.
    • This benchmark was met in 2024
      • 93.33 % of the cohort reported favorable reflections on the curriculum

3. Fostering leadership and program engagement

The success in meeting this goal is measured through percentage of students per cohort having a leadership role during either the didactic or clinical phase of the program and through measuring participation of alumni as preceptors.

  • >30% of students per cohort have a leadership role during the didactic and clinical phase of the program
    • Examples include: SCUPASA, SMMART, Anatomy TA, MAPA, AAPA
    • This benchmark was met in 2024
      • 46.66% was the rate of Class 2024 participation
  • >5% of all total preceptors are alumni & >20% of all PA preceptors are alumni
    • This benchmark was met in 2024
      • 7% of all total preceptors are alumni
      • 29% of all PA preceptors are alumni
