Are transgender women eligible for admission to Íæż½ã½ã?

Yes. Transgender women are eligible for admission to the three colleges at Íæż½ã½ã’s – the College for Women, the College for Adults and the Graduate College.

Are non-binary and genderqueer applicants eligible for admission to Íæż½ã½ã?

Yes. Non-binary and genderqueer applicants are eligible for admission to the three colleges at Íæż½ã½ã’s: the College for Women, the College for Adults and the Graduate College.

Are transgender men eligible for admission?

Individuals who identify as men are eligible and encouraged to apply for admission to the College for Adults and to the Graduate College. Individuals who identify as men are not eligible for admission to the College for Women.

How will the Office of Admission know whether it has received an application from a transgender student?

Applicants have the option of self-disclosing as transgender in their communication with the admission office.

Will Íæż½ã½ã require any statement beyond the applicant’s self-identification? For example, will transgender women need to establish that they have a history of living as a woman?

No. Whether a student transitions suddenly or has a long history with a particular gender identity will not have an impact on their application for admission.

Are applications from transgender women, non-binary, and genderqueer students handled differently?

No. Admission to Íæż½ã½ã is a competitive process and the same criteria and standards are applied to all applicants.

Does Íæż½ã½ã’s currently have transgender, non-binary, and genderqueer students enrolled?

Yes, Íæż½ã½ã’s currently has transgender, non-binary, and genderqueer students enrolled. The University values the dignity of each student’s growth, both academically and personally, and recognizes that identity may change.

If a student transitions during their time at Íæż½ã½ã’s to a male gender identity, will the student need to withdraw from the College for Women? 

No. Once a student is admitted, the University supports them regardless of their sex or gender identity.
