The Catherine G. Murphy Gallery opens its Juried Senior Exhibition on April 9. This annual spring event showcases the talent and work of the graduating studio art majors. The popular show is a great way for students to showcase their work in a public exhibition before their graduation.
In addition to preparing for the exhibition, students have the opportunity to develop a website, create business cards, a mailing list, and professional portfolio. This year’s exhibition features the work of LaVina Branscomb ’16, Danielle Moler ’16, Tavia VanZuilen ’16 and Anna Rosenthal ’16.
“Every year brings a new group of graduating studio art majors and each year I am in awe of their accomplishments, as I am again with this year’s seniors,” says Kathy Daniels, director of the Catherine G. Murphy Gallery, and professor for the Senior Capstone class. “The exhibition, Material Navigation, addresses the diversity of medium used by each student and directions they have chosen over the past four yeas of their education.”
Featured student, Tavia VanZuilen adds, “the exhibition is something I have been working towards the past four years and it is finally all coming together.”
The exhibit runs April 9 –May 22. There will be a community reception on Saturday, April 9, 6–8 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Attendees will also have the chance to meet the artists and ask any questions.
