On February 18, the Íæż½ã½ã dance team made history by from the USA Collegiate Dance Championships in Anaheim, California.
The Wildcats competed in the Four Year College DII/DIII Jazz Finals with an overall score of 83.57. Headed into the finals the Wildcats were sitting fifth with a score of 82.03 before moving up in finals. Their national jazz routine to Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" was choreographed by industry award-winning choreographer Derrick Schrader.
Teams are judged on three different categories, including choreography, execution, and performance. Points in choreography can be obtained by jazz style and creativity, routine staging, and technical skills/specialties. Through execution, teams are judged on movement technique, uniformity, and technical kills/specialties again. The overall performance is scored on showmanship and overall impression for a possible total score of 100.
Fellow MIAC member Gustavus Adolphus College also competed in the event, finishing sixth with a finals score of 82.47.
