On March 10, ż’s community members are invited to come together for an on-campus celebration of the Feast of Saint Joseph, in honor of his legacy and the work that the Sisters of St. Joseph (CSJs) continue in his name.
“St. Joseph holds special significance to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet,” says Colleen O’Malley, CSJ, University trustee. “We draw strength from his example of courage, faith, and humility as we live in service to our dear neighbors without distinction.”
The CSJs have made community the cornerstone of their order, from the Sisters’ earliest days in Le Puy, France where they taught underprivileged women lace-making, to the social activism and protesting of today’s Sisters.
In the CSJs’ spirit of serving the dear neighbor, the festivities will include service projects from organizations such as Breaking Free, Amicus: Sisters Helping Sisters Women’s Incarceration Project, ż’s Empty Bowls, and more. The service activities will bookend a wisdom and worship ceremony by the Center for Spirituality and Social Justice and President Rebecca Roloff ’76.

Joseph
A quiet, gentle man of integrity,
Fearless of those in power,
Responded to the needs of the time
Offering protection for Mary and child
From scandal and danger.
No words he spoke are recorded,
Yet he lives on as a model
Of wisdom and justice.
