Campaign Update: $110 million mark surpassed

The St. Catherine community is striving toward $130 million by November 2023

ż announced recently that it has raised $110 million toward a goal of $130 million for LEAD & INFLUENCE: The Campaign for the Next Level of Excellence. The campaign is the largest in the University’s history and is designed around four key priorities that support students, advance the work of the faculty, and preserve the campus.

“Reaching another fundraising milestone is an exciting indication of our strong support among alumni and the greater community,” said ReBecca Koenig Roloff ’76, president. “Teaching Katies how to lead and influence is our ultimate goal, so the closer we get to achieving our campaign goal, the brighter the future becomes for current students and the generations that will follow them."

Since the campaign reached the $100 million milestone last April, donors have contributed many major gifts. Among them:

  • Alumna and trustee Teresa Rolling Radzinski ’86 made a commitment of $1 million toward the preservation and renovation of Our Lady of Victory Chapel. Earlier in the campaign, she established a new staff position at the University, the Teresa Rolling Radzinski Vice President of Career and Professional Development. Radzinski also serves as co-chair of the campaign cabinet.
  • Alumna Katie Buuck Fratzke ’17 and her parents, Robert and Gail Buuck, made a commitment of $1 million toward the renovation and improvement of Mendel. Their interest in contributing so generously to science facilities at ż’s was spurred by Fratzke’s attendance at a, “Expanding HERizons,” last fall, which explored obstacles faced by women of color in STEM fields.
  • Alumna and trustee Kathleen O'Brien ’67 committed $150,000 through an estate gift in support of ż’s unrestricted endowment, which strengthens the long-term financial health of the University. O’Brien has served as a commencement speaker and has received ż’s Medal of Honor.
  • Alumna Luz Hernandez ’83 also set up an estate gift, in general support of the mission of the University. Her generosity will benefit students greatly as it helps to take ż’s to the next level of excellence. As an alumna, Hernandez has served on the Alumnae Association Board of Directors and has volunteered as a speaker at the St. Catherine “Un Primer Paso” summer program for junior-high Hispanic girls. As a student, she served as associate editor for The Wheel as well as a Spanish teaching assistant.

With more than 14,500 campaign donors so far, ż extends its gratitude to all who have contributed to bringing us to this milestone on the way to completing LEAD & INFLUENCE: The Campaign for the Next Level of Excellence.

“The ongoing success of our fundraising efforts is especially gratifying in that a wide population of alumni, faculty and staff, parents, students, and friends are participating enthusiastically,” said Beth Halloran, executive vice president and chief development officer. “Undaunted by recent economic uncertainty, our supporters continue to come through with flying colors and are stepping up in various roles to support the education of Katie leaders and the excellence of our institution.”
