Balancing the Scales: Progress Amid Challenges
Every year, Íæż½ã½ã's School of Business produces the Minnesota Census on Women in Corporate Leadership, a research study that examines the representation of women on boards of directors and as executive officers in Minnesota's largest publicly held companies. In the 2024 Census, both women’s representation on boards and in executive officer roles inched forward ever so slightly, downshifting to a rate of progress not seen in eight years. Researchers throughout the country have noted a similar slowdown and attribute it to the anti-DEI climate, which has gained traction over the last year. Fortunately, this year’s Census report offers a few actionable insights extracted from focus groups and surveys fielded for the first time as part of the Census data collection. Join Diane Fittipaldi, recently retired associate professor of Business Administration, and Anupama Pasricha, Dean, School of Business, for a discussion on the 2024 census.
Alumni from all class years are invited back to campus for a special Evening With St. Kate’s celebrating the retirement of President ReBecca Koenig Roloff ’76. The program will feature parting reflections from Becky on her St. Kate’s presidency and alumni celebration of her leadership

From Internment to the College Gates: Japanese_American Students at Íæż½ã½ã's, 1943-1953
Presented by Amy Shaw, Head of Archives and Special Collections, Íæż½ã½ã Library
During World War II, 120,000 Japanese Americans – two-thirds of them American citizens – were detained in internment camps by the U. S. War Relocation Authority. About 4,000 of these prisoners were granted early release from the camps to attend colleges in the Midwest and further east. This is the story of 25 of these students who came to Íæż½ã½ã’s during the war and its aftermath. Encouraged by the Sisters of St. Joseph, these young women worked with enthusiasm and resolve toward baccalaureate degrees, nursing credentials, and teaching certificates. Drawing on archival research, oral histories, and other resources, Amy Shaw has traced many of these students from their original homes on the West Coast, to the camps, to Íæż½ã½ã’s, and beyond.
